-prompt: scent of lavender |
-she actually didn’t like the scent of lavender. -she tried as it seemed to be everywhere -but it was something about how it climbed a little too far up the nasal cavity that proved almost intrusive. -almost like it was barely a scent but moreso a covering. -but there was one piece of soap of her grandmother’s that she loved. -it was a pink bar soap -and read lavender as the ingredients. -she used to only use it while over her house -but after her passing kept it as a keepsake and an annual delivery order. -on special nostalgic occasions, she’d use it after her traditional soap -and for some reason it didn’t bind to her senses as hard. -it was a soft touch -a softer covering -but still lingered just in a different way. -maybe it was the olive oil she added to her bath like her grandmother did. -maybe that anointing toned down what was typically overpowering without it. -whatever the reason, she was always calmer after she used it -and sometimes cathartic as if something else had been let loose. -it was her way to honor a memory -and let an elder still take care of her even in the after.
